I have heard many of my friends doing a dropshipping business who keep telling me "Oh its so good we don't need the products we just take orders and its done !",To them I reply "Dropshipping has become very common these days, try and do something different like me-Drop Servicing! "
Dropservicing has taken shape thanks to digital growth of the world and people becoming more technology savvy.Dropservicing as the name suggests is the business where you can take up projects get it done via someone and earn profit margins. This is same as any other service business but you must be aware whom are you handing the work too.
Lets take a peak into a little introduction and then go ahead with how you can start it and what are the pros and cons
What actually is drop servicing?
Drop servicing is a business model where you sell services that you don’t work yourself, rather you outsource the work to a freelancer or an agency that completes a project while you’re only in charge of selling the service to a client or looking in for more clients. The drop servicing model is also known as “service arbitrage”, “sub-contracting” or an “agency model”
This is a kind of commission based middleman business. You are a reseller you sells the services and the work is completed behind the scenes by third party!
How does drop servicing work?
The process of starting a drop service business is extremely simple. Similar to setting up a business ofcourse you do not need huge capital but some investment for setting up a website and marketing the services you want to sell ,before which you need to find some people or a team who can actually do all those for you
So these are the steps you can follow to make it work after getting people who will work for you(so that you can calculate the costs)
- You can start by adding your friends ,your colleagues to know about your services (it serves as a beta testing too)
- You design a website offering marketing services,or you can register as a company on many service proving websites
- Then you promote and advertise the service to get clients
- Next, you forward the project details to a service provider to do the work
- Finally, once complete, you deliver the work to the client
What can you drop Service?
So since its a service obviously products cannot be drop services :P,Jokes apart you can go in with any digital work starting with:
- Graphic Design
- Website Design
- Social Media Marketing
- Content Creation
- Google Ad Creation
- Search Engine Optimisation
- Digital Marketing
- Search Engine Optimisation
Digital work list can go on , you need to choose the what suits you best. For more growth you need to choose the services which are recurring as they help you getting a good amount every time.
So all details shared it looks amazing and now you want to start it right away ?
WAIT
Dropservicing might seem alluring but it has its shortcomings too:
If your freelancer doesn't deliver in time you have to face the heat. Also you cannot control the quality of work the freelancer offers with so many freelancers and agencies claiming to be the best!
If your client doesn't pay in time you have to bear the loss of advance payment
If your freelancer or client suddenly vanishes without proper payment or completion of work you are in a no man's land!
So Shall you stop thinking of it? Ofcourse NOT!
Dropservicing is a very profitable business with some associated risks ,you just need to be careful of a few things
1.Check the profile of the freelancer or agency you are hiring for the service
2.Take a good percentage of amount in advance from the client so that they are bound and risk reduces.
3.Keep following up with both the client as well as the service provider so that you get a grasp of what is going on and there is an appropriate pressure on the freelancer .As for the client more communication gives recurring work and a good impression
4.Try having knowledge of whatever you are selling it is an added advantage as it gives you a chance to survive if the service provider ditches you and you get to learn something new of course
So now all risks covered ? Want to pay for some course? Well if its a yes you can choose : here or this
But I will rather suggest on reading more and starting and with experience you can grow .
How much to charge ?
Always try to charge 50% more than what has been quoted to you ,keep in mind that you are getting the job so its important to keep in a higher percentage, many of the leaders in this charge more than 200% .Incase you do not want to risk ,start with a smaller amount and move ahead gradually.Always make sure that you deliver. Also try approaching high end buyers after initial smalltime buyers as that will help you grow.
Here you go with all the required details,do try and share your experience !
